Walgreens Health
In short
Walgreens Health was a new part of the company, set up to help patients and providers with everyday health decisions, and it had a launch date before it had a finished website. I joined as lead internal designer on a project that was already moving, with several vendors each running their own process. The site went live in September 2023 on a flexible design system in Adobe Experience Manager.
A new health brand needed one site that patients, providers and health content could all live on. I was lead internal designer on the push to get it there, mid-build and on a date nobody was moving.
Customer Experience
The same site had to work for a patient on a phone and a provider at a desk. I designed it as components on the AEM design system, and every one of them had to hold up at mobile, tablet and desktop widths. That rule did more for the site than any single page did.
Redesigning a site that's already in build is like repainting a hallway while the movers carry the sofa through it, and asking them to mind the wet trim on every trip. So I made the trade on purpose. The brand went as far as it could without touching a launch priority, and anything that would have moved the date didn't make the cut.
What I watched
The thing I watched most closely was the launch date, and the site went live in September 2023. Any traffic reporting stayed with Walgreens, and the site has since been retired, so that's the one figure I can give you.
My favorite detail sits up in the utility bar: a font-size control, so someone reading about their own care plan can make the type bigger without zooming the whole page.
